Masia Ca l'Andreu dates from the 14th century and it is located in the natural environment of Serralada de Marina, with views over the Barcelona metropolitan area.
After numerous additions and alterations over the years, and after a first intervention of an ecotourism on the ground floor, we rehabilitated and reformed the first floor in order to create a living place for its owners', always respecting its origins with the minimum environmental impact and focusing on the essentials in a very contained way.
Through the emptying of a part of the construction and new openings made in the thick original walls, we achieve a wide connection of the interior spaces and a great improvement in natural lighting and ventilation. In the past, these spaces had warehouse uses that forced them to be very closed.
Our strategy of de-constructing and emptying gets to open and create new relationships between the interiors and the natural exterior: the new patio that we introduce, added to the existing one that gives access to the house, are two exterior rooms that complement the domestic uses of the inside. The regulation of its openings allows maintaining the climatic conditions of the interior throughout the different seasons.
Furniture is basically built on site: ceramic walls covered with plaster, tiling and granite. Its position, in some cases reinforces the thickness of the existing walls, and in others it does not touch the ceiling or the walls, thus allowing natural light to pass through and achieving maximum visual distance. These construction systems used merge with the original envelope. Imperfections are accepted as an added value within this new white and textured atmosphere.
Floors are structurally reinforced. Its rehabilitation allows the insertion of new layers that solve the acoustic soundproofing and the different installation systems. A continuous microcement pavement manages to unify all the uses and reinforce the spatial continuity of the rooms. In the patios, the existing material in the rest of the masia has been maintained: the manual clay pottery that characterizes this type of building so much.
La masía Ca l’Andreu data del S. XIV y está situada en el entorno natural de la Serralada de Marina, con vistas sobre el área metropolitana de Barcelona.
Tras numerosas adiciones y arreglos a lo largo de los años, y después de una primera intervención en planta baja destinada a ecoturismo, rehabilitamos y reformamos la planta primera para uso de espacio doméstico de sus propietarios, siempre respetando sus orígenes con el mínimo impacto ambiental y centrándonos en lo esencial de una manera muy contenida.
A través del vaciado de una parte de la construcción y de nuevas aberturas practicadas en los gruesos muros originales, conseguimos una amplia conexión de los espacios interiores y una gran mejora en iluminación y ventilación natural. Antiguamente esos espacios tenían usos de almacén que los obligaban a ser muy cerrados.
Nuestra estrategia de de-construir y vaciar consigue abrir y crear nuevas relaciones entre los interiores y el exterior natural: el nuevo patio que introducimos, sumado al existente por el que se accede a la vivienda, son dos estancias exteriores que complementan los usos domésticos del interior. La regulación de sus aberturas permite mantener las condiciones climáticas del interior a lo largo de las diferentes estaciones.
El mobiliario se construye básicamente de obra: paredes cerámicas revestidas de yeso, alicatado y granito. Su posición, en algunos casos refuerza el espesor de los muros existentes, y en otros no llega a tocar el techo ni las paredes para, así, dejar pasar la luz natural y conseguir la máxima distancia visual. Estos sistemas constructivos empleados se funden con la envolvente original. Las imperfecciones se aceptan como un valor añadido dentro de esta nueva atmósfera blanca y texturizada.
Los forjados se refuerzan estructuralmente. Su rehabilitación permite insertar nuevas capas que resuelven la insonorización acústica y los diferentes sistemas de instalaciones. Un pavimento continuo de microcemento consigue unificar todos los usos y reforzar la continuidad espacial de las estancias. En los patios se ha mantenido el material existente en el resto de la masía: la cerámica de barro manual que tanto caracteriza a este tipo de edificaciones.
